
Our SMS and SHS Cross Country teams were busy last week!
First, both SMS and SHS ran at Belle's meet on Thursday. For SHS, Lydia Collinson placed 6th, and for SMS the girls won 1st place for the team, and the boys team took 7th! Individually, Adalei Perkins, Elisabeth Warden, and Ellie Sturdevant each took home a medal!
Then, Saturday, the SHS team ran at Gans Greek, where Landon Rutledge placed 15th!
Way to go, Cardinals, and good luck to both teams today at Cuba!





Baseball wrapped up the fall season with a loss in Bourbon yesterday. The Cardinals will be back and ready to go this Spring!

The SHS Volleyball team fought hard, but ultimately fell to Licking. JV lost in 2 and Varsity lost in 3.

Hello everyone!
We are having our 4th annual Student v. Teacher v. Parent Pink Night volleyball tournament, this Thursday, October 3, after the volleyball game against Cuba. If you want to participate, please sign up using the attached form. Teams must have at least 6 players. It is $10 a person to play. Sign up by Wednesday, October 2, cash payment at game time.

Thursday is the annual PINK NIGHT volleyball game. There will also be a silent auction, bake sale, and basket auction. All proceeds will go to a family dealing with cancer.
We would love everyone's support! We will play Cuba: JV starting at 5 p.m., Varsity following, and the Tournament afterward. Don't forget to wear pink!


Steelville High School just had their September "Rising Higher, Soaring Together" Assembly! Mr. Murphy won the Staff Belt for September's student vote for Rising Higher, Soaring Together! Several students were recognized as Characters of the Month, and from these pictures, it looks like everyone had a great time! Now, on to October!!!

Tammy Zuzack, with the Crawford County Extension Office, dropped off a BIG box with more than 1,000 bags of D-Dee's Kettle Korn this morning!
The Steelville School District is joining schools, preschools, nonprofits, and local food enthusiasts in celebrating Farm to School Month by competing in an eight-state Crunch Off competition! Missouri is competing against Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming to determine who will be crowned the Mountain Plains Region Crunch Champion by having the most crunches into locally grown produce per capita.
If you hear a super loud *CRUNCH* on October 3rd, don't worry! It's us!

Mrs. Martin said, "We celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday yesterday by making some delicious crockpot applesauce for a yummy treat. We also improved our skills on finding text evidence while learning facts about Johnny Appleseed! "
That applesauce looks delicious!!! Yum!!!

Hey, Cardinals! We have the BEST staff at Steelville School District, and today, we would like to recognize some of them!
Mrs. Vernon has been in the district for 16 years now, and is currently teaching 4th grade at Steelville Elementary School! Her favorite color is royal blue, and her favorite food is, "Any food that I don't have to cook... Or Mexican!" She loves working with wool, needle felting, weaving, and crafting!
Mrs. Palmer has been in the district for 3 years now, and is currently an ELA Special Education teacher at Steelville Elementary School! Mrs. Palmer's favorite color is orange, and her favorite food is pizza! She loves SXS riding and spending time with her grandkids!
Mr. Blacksher is in his 7th year in the district, and is the 5th grade science teacher at Steelville Middle School! His favorite season is winter, and he loves ribs and brisket tacos! Mr. Blacker's favorite travel spot is Colorado and Montana!
Miss Koch is in her 2nd year in the district, and is one of our Ag/FFA teachers at Steelville High School! She loves reading, calligraphy, working in the greenhouse, and spending time with family and friends, and her favorite foods are mac & cheese and yogurt covered pretzels! She loves Fall, Winter, and country music!
Thank you so much to these staff members for all of their hard work and their dedication to our students! We appreciate each of them so much! Feel free to give them a shoutout in the comments below!



Steelville FCA at the high school and Steelville Middle School hosted See You at the Pole yesterday, and they had a great turnout! We couldn't have asked for a more a more beautiful, peaceful morning! Special thanks to Straightway Baptist Church and Steelville Presbyterian Church for providing donuts for breakfast at the high school, and Center Point Baptist Church for providing the same for the middle school!



To celebrate a great job at the parade, Mr. Nicks took 7th and 8th graders to Dairy Isle a couple weeks ago. Mookie tagged along to celebrate with them and for a pup cup!



The Lady Cardinals Volleyball teams have been busy! Over the weekend in the Cuba tournament, the Varsity girls split with Cuba and Herculaneum, then suffered a loss to Warrenton. Monday, they travelled to Bourbon, getting a win for both teams! They’re back in action tonight, 9/24/24, at home!
