Hey, Cardinals! Today we want to continue sharing returning staff members who are moving to new positions within the district! Patricia (Trish) Callahan will be moving from Bus Driver and Alternative School Paraprofessional to teaching SHS Social Studies! Mrs. Callahan enjoys life's simple pleasures, like traveling, making memories with family, and enjoying time with friends. She especially loves exploring new places, taking cruises, and road-tripping with her husband! When asked why she chose Steelville, Mrs. Callahan said, "I live in Steelville, and I feel privileged to have raised my family here. I am excited to be able to give back by teaching!" Hey, Cardinals! Yesterday, we wrapped up our brand new staff introductions, and today we want to start sharing returning staff members who are moving to new positions within the district! Starting off, Mariah Gerren will be moving from the SMS Office Secretary position to teaching SMS Computer Class! Mrs. Gerren has been the SMS Office Secretary for 4 1/2 years, and she looks forward to putting her Bachelor of Science Education degree to work teaching at SMS next year! Mrs. Gerren's hobbies include reading, traveling and family time, and when asked why she chose Steelville, she said, "Steelville has always had my heart. I have lived here my whole life, and couldn't imagine teaching anywhere else. I know that at Steelville School District, I can find a friend in everyone!" Last up, we would like to introduce our new SES Counselor, Sarah Hammonds! Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. When asked, "Why did you choose Steelville?", she said, "That's easy! My husband grew up in Steelville had has worked in the district for many years. Over that time, I have seen first hand what it's like to be part of the Cardinal family, and I wanted to be a part of that as well." Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Hammonds!

Next up, we would like to introduce our new SHS English Teacher and SMS Girls' Basketball Head Coach, Brandi Moore! Brandi enjoys playing and watching sports, specifically basketball and softball. When asked, "Why did you choose Steelville?", she said, "I grew up in a small town in southeast Missouri. I liked the friendly small town atmosphere at the school!" Mr. Sokeland enjoys performing in two bands, riding motorcycles, traveling with his wife, and being active in his church. When asked, "Why did you choose Steelville?", he said, "I am very excited to re-enter the classroom at a school with a strong tradition of musical excellence!" Next up, we would like to introduce our new SHS Business Teacher, Jackson Case! Jackson enjoys golfing, fishing, kayaking, playing guitar, and spending time with friends and family. When asked, "Why did you choose Steelville?", he said, "I was born in Steelville and attended school here from kindergarten through 12th grade. I loved my childhood in Steelville, and upon graduating from college, I knew I wanted to come back. When a position became available, it was a no-brainer to apply! I am beyond excited and very thankful to begin my journey as a teacher back here in my hometown." Please join us in welcoming Mr. Case!

Phillip enjoys coaching basketball, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family. When asked, "Why did you choose Steelville?", he said, "I have been told for many years by a very good friend of mine that Steelville was a great place to raise a family, has a great school, and is a great community." Hey, Cardinals! To allow our staff to order and receive the food for your children's meals, Sign-Ups for our Summer Food Service Program June Meal Pick-Up Days closes Sunday, June 22nd at the end of the day! VERY IMPORTANT!!! Only the parent/guardian/caretaker of the child may pick up meals for that child. The person picking up the meals must be named on the sign-up form unless the children are present during pick-up. The USDA requires this, and if we allow friends/family not listed on our sheet to pick up meals for other children we could lose funding for the program. If you have already filled out the form for June 23rd and/or 30th and you need to update the name of the person who will pick up meals (or add an additional name if you aren't sure who will be picking up), please email Kari Vetter at kvetter@steelville.k12.mo.us or call 573-775-2175 before 3:30PM tomorrow, Thursday, June 19th to make those changes. If you signed up, but you later realized you will be unable to make it to pick up your meals, please let Kari Vetter (contact info above) or Becky Adams (badams@steelville.k12.mo.us) know ASAP so that we can adjust the number of meals we prepare and reduce waste. We had 227 children signed up for meals this week, and 54 of those children's meals were not picked up. Thank you so much for helping us operate this amazing program efficiently!!! If you plan on picking up meals for your children (age 0-18) on Monday, June 23rd and/or Monday, June 30th, please make sure you sign up before the end of the day Sunday, June 22nd. We will have a limited number of extra meal kits available each day, so make sure you sign up to reserve your meals! Children who are not signed up MUST be present to receive a meal kit. Hey, Cardinals! Our first Grab-N-Go Summer Meal Kit Pick-Up will be Monday, June 16th! We had an amazing response, with 227 children signed up to receive 5 days' worth of breakfasts and lunches!!! We are so excited to be able to utilize this program this year, and we can't wait to see how everything goes on Monday! We will have 20 additional meal kits available for anyone who didn't get their children signed up on time. These extras will be first come first serve, so if you did not get signed up, get here early! The meal pick-up time will run from 11AM until 1PM at Steelville Middle School. If you would like to sign up for the next week's meal pick-up, which will be held on Monday, June 23rd from 11AM to 1PM at Steelville Middle School, you may go ahead and do so using the link below. Thank you to Riverways Federal Credit Union for their donation to our Friday Backpack Program! Their presence and support in our community is so appreciated. Mrs. Mabe's Personal Finance class also got to partake in their interactive presentation to help build real-world money skills!

Class of 2025: Senior packets/diplomas will be available for pickup at Steelville High School June 17th through June 20th and June 24th through June 27th between the hours of 9am and 2pm!

Hey, Cardinals! Tonight is the SES Summer Kick-Off Night! This fundraiser event will be held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM behind the SES gym, with the movie following at 7 PM inside the SES gym! There will be skew ball, axe throwing, a dunking booth, pretend tattoos, bubbles, music, and many, many games!!! We also have a lot of really fun vehicles coming in to set up! There will be ONE raffle (for a Pit Boss Pellet Grill) for the night at the PBIS tent. Adults can get one FREE raffle ticket by visiting the tent, and can buy more chances for $1/each! Prices: Games/Activities (4:30 PM to 6:30 PM) -Kids are $5/each to get in! (They MUST have a wristband to do any of the games and/or activities). Parents and children 4 years old or under are free! Movie Night (7:00 PM) Featuring "A GOOFY MOVIE" -The movie is FREE, but there will be snack boxes available to purchase for $5/each! (Snack boxes will include a popcorn, a sweet treat, and a drink!) Miss Cottrell and Mrs. Fox’s summer school class visited Countryside Farm and Market today. We learned about different types of plants, plant care, and even planted our own succulents. A big thanks to Countryside Farm and Market for having us!
