Hey, Cardinals! Take a moment to check out Steelville's events for this week!

It's National School Counseling Week, and we want to start of the week by recognizing the three amazing school counselors who serve our Steelville R-3 students!
Mrs. Carnal has been working for the Steelville school district for 7 years! She has served as our elementary school counselor for 4 years. She has been an outstanding asset to our district, and always has our students' best interests as her first objective! She has also opened a private play therapy practice outside of school hours to support our youth. She enjoys actively supporting her kids through their extracurricular activities in her free time and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Baker is new to Steelville and SMS this year, but she brings a wealth of knowledge with her to her role here....as well as bringing us Mookie, our therapy dog! We are grateful for all the lessons she has already taught our students and the time she has taken to learn about our students and spend with them. She has also started a new leadership group that is where she will be teaching students how to combat any social dilemmas they may find themselves and their peers in, giving them tools on how to cope and stand up for themselves and others.
We are incredibly fortunate to have an amazing school counselor who goes above and beyond to support our students every single day at Steelville High School! Thank you to Ms. Sherrill for your unwavering dedication, empathy, and commitment to our students' well-being and success. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for everything you do!
Please join us in recognizing these truly exceptional counselors!

You can learn a lot from looking at pictures or reading about things, but being able to explore something in real life takes learning to a whole new level. Today, Mrs. Stewarts' Anatomy Lab allowed these SHS students to dissect a real animal heart! We're guessing this is a lesson these students won't soon forget!

For their last unit of 1st semester, SHS artists completed final projects that prioritized the element of art, Shape, and the principle of design, Variety. Students used shapes both to create an accurate representation of their hand, and to create compelling compositions. They used a variety of colors, materials, and included a variety of objects either in or around their hand. So many great projects came as a result!

We now have artists of the month, whose works are displayed in the SHS library ✨ Join us in appreciating these beautifully executed artworks by Freshman Riley Vernon, Sophomore Garrett Richter, Junior Aaleigha Decker, and Senior Izzy Quinton.

New work by our exceptional SHS artists is now on view at our central office! Please congratulate these students on their incredible work:
