The SHS Baseball Team has been given the opportunity to play at the Gateway Grizzlies Stadium in Sauget, Illinois! Coach Earney says, "This is a really special opportunity that I am hoping we can do annually." The team has to meet a minimum number of ticket sales to be able to play in the future. Last Friday, several SHS FCCLA members enjoyed their spring field trip to the St.Louis Zoo, followed by lunch at HuHot Mongolian Grill, and some time shopping at the mall. A good day was had by all!

2026 Easter Egg Appeal!
The Steelville School District is planning a community egg hunt for 2026! To make it happen, we are seeking donations of plastic eggs for the children to hunt. New or Used eggs are fine as long as they are not broken. If you have extra empty eggs after this weekend’s egg hunts and you would like to donate them, you can drop them off at any of the building offices, including SHS, SMS, SES, and Central Office. We will also accept new Easter themed non-food items, like little toys, pencils, coloring books, etc! We are super excited to plan this event next year, and we hope to make it so successful that it becomes a new spring tradition!

Our kitchens put out some really great meals the past couple of weeks! Staff and students enjoyed salads, roasted turkey, meatloaf, their beloved chicken patty, and more! They even enjoyed a special dessert today!

Yesterday, several of our Steelville students competed in the Special Olympics! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day, and the students had such a great time showing off all of their skills and talents! Way to go, Cardinals!

Miss Pitts hosts Open Art for Art Club members every Friday after school. This is an opportunity for students to connect, have access to art making tools & guidance, and have fun! Art Club is open to all, and is an especially great opportunity for students who weren’t able to fit an art class into their schedules to still have a creative outlet. Last week, they had a blast making tie-dye shirts & curtains for the classroom!
SES 2nd grade has been learning about the life cycle of plants and what it takes for a plant to survive! They had planned to go to the Steelville High school greenhouse, but with the recent damages from the storms it became unavailable. Sullivan High School’s AG department graciously allowed our 2nd graders and the Steelville High School's greenhouse class, along with their teacher, Ms. Koch, to come visit their greenhouse! While at the greenhouse, the students were able to ask questions about plants, view a variety of plants that were growing in the greenhouse, and even got to plant their own plants with the help of the Steelville High School greenhouse class students! The students had a great time and experience. Hopefully there will be a bunch of kids with some green thumbs after this science unit!
