We would like to say Congratulations to prior SHS student Houston for receiving the 2nd Quarter Student Breakfast award! Houston was unable to attend our student breakfast and moved before his certificate could be given to him. Mrs. Booker and Mrs. Miller went to his new school to present him with his award. Congratulations Houston and good luck in your future endeavors!
SHS Art I-III students just started their Form + Texture unit, and they are excited to be working with clay! Their first projects will be pinch pots. Stay tuned to see how they turn out!
Valentine's Day is coming up fast, and the SHS Ag Department is ready to deliver candy arrangements to your favorite Steelville students and staff members!
This year, there will be three sizes of arrangements available:
$5 Small - Plastic cup w/3 small candies
$12 Medium - Metal cup w/5 small candies & 1 large candy
$20 Large - Metal cup w/5 small candies & 3 large candies
Order forms are due by February 5th! Deliveries are available to SES, SMS, SHS, PreK, and Central Office.
To order, scan the QR code in the image attached, or you may pick up a paper order form at any building office. Payments must be sent to HS Office/Ag Building.
All proceeds will go to the Steelville High School FFA Funds!
On Tuesday, Jan. 21st our SHS Girls' Wrestling team took part in a scramble event at Park Hills Central. Steelville won its dual against Affton - 18-12, but fell to St. Pius - 24-12, Sikeston - 48-0, and Park Hills - 45-0.
Our individual results are listed below:
- Jaydon Sharp (Fr.) went 2-2 wrestling at 100lbs and 105lbs
- Lydia Smelser (So.) went 2-2 wrestling at 125lbs
- Alaigha Falgout (Sr.) went 1-3 wrestling at 135lbs
Our next event will be a boys' event at Park Hills Central on Monday, Jan. 27th. Wrestling will begin at 5pm. Both Men's & Women's wrestling will compete at Potosi on Thursday, Jan. 30th. Wrestling should start at 5pm.

Hey, Cardinals! A game has been added and 2025 Homecoming has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 8th, 2025! There will be both JV and Varsity boys' basketball games starting at 5:00 PM, with the dance following the games and ending at 10:30 PM.
Students who wish to bring an out-of-district date to the dance must complete an Outside Date form. This form must be turned in the the SHS office by Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 at 3:45 PM.
Hey, Cardinals! Steelville Schools will be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21st! A few changes were made to some bus routes, and affected households have been contacted.
We know that tomorrow morning will be very cold, so we are opening our doors at 7AM for student drop off on Tuesday, January 21st. We can't wait to see our staff and students tomorrow!

The Boys Basketball teams took on St.James on Friday. Junior Varsity lost 69-25, and Varsity took the win 55-52 in OT! Go, Cards!
On Friday, January 17th our SHS men’s wrestling team went to Owensville to compete in the Owensville JV tournament. The final results are listed below: - John Bell (Fr.) took 4th place - Ky Schirmer (Fr.) took 5th place - Cole Adams (Fr.) took 2nd place - Aiden Retkowski (Jr.) took 1st place Go, Cards!

Steelville High Wrestling competed in their first varsity duals of the season at St. James. Competing against St. James, St. Francis Borgia, and West Plains. The highlight of the night was our girls team securing the first dual win in program history, defeating St. James 18-12, thanks to Lydia Smelser’s first career win.

Hey, Cardinals! The relatively warm temperature and bright sun today helped the roads out, but not quite enough to be able to run all of our bus routes tomorrow morning. In addition to the secondary road condition, the ice caused some leaks in the elementary school roof, and we are still working on drying out the affected areas. Due to both of these obstacles, there will be no school for Steelville tomorrow, Friday, January 17th. We truly appreciate the support and understanding of our community as we do our best to keep everyone safe, and we look forward to seeing our staff and students back in school on Tuesday!
